Men’s basketball hold on for double-overtime victory at Delaware
Road wins in the Colonial Athletic Association don’t come easy.
VCU men’s basketball learned that Wednesday night as they were taken to double-overtime by Delaware, but managed to come away with a 84-74 victory to improve to 20-6 overall, 12-2 in the CAA.
Jamie Skeen and Bradford Burgess both eclipsed 1,000 career points against the Blue Hens, Skeen scoring 32 to go with Burgess’ 15.
The Rams managed to out-rebound their opponent for the fifth straight game, gaining a 45-37 advantage over Delaware on the boards.
Havoc 2.0 took form once again Wednesday night, with the Rams forcing 15 Blue Hens turnovers.
Brandon Rozzell had 11 points for VCU, including a crucial 3-pointer with 1:36 left in double-overtime that helped lift the Rams to their second straight road win.
With Wednesday night’s win, VCU remains tied for first place with George Mason heading into the final stretch of the season with just five games remaining.
