Native plants provide function and beauty
More than two dozen VCU students and Physical Plant staff members participated in a “Bayscaping” project outside of the Trani Life Sciences Building. On April 17, volunteers began planting 650 shrubs, flowers and bushes that are native to Virginia. They plan to finish the job on May 1. The native plants do not require as much care and provide a natural system for managing storm water runoff. The effort was coordinated by Green Unity 4 VCU, a student environmental group.
Board of Visitors to hold closed, open meetings
A special committee of the Board of Visitors will be held on Thursday, April 29, from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. at the VCU Meeting Center, 101 N. Harrison St., Richmond.
The special committee meeting will be in closed session to discuss the acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or of the disposition of publicly held real property, where discussion in an open session would adversely affect the bargaining position or negotiating strategy of VCU as authorized by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
A meeting of the full board will convene in open session at 9 a.m. to discuss the budget and other university matters.
In accordance with the board’s operating procedures and in compliance with the Virginia FOIA, there will be no opportunity for public comment at the meetings.
Students rock real estate competition
Four VCU School of Business students finished second in a highly competitive real estate challenge at Villanova University this month that brought together teams from 10 colleges.
