The appeal submitted by a former candidate in the Student Government Association executive elections was rejected Monday; first-runner up candidates – Adele McClure and Joshua Maye – will serve as the new SGA president and vice president.
Former executive candidates, Kanwar Anand and James Thompson, submitted an appeal to the Judicial Board Ruling for Case # 022, which disqualified the Anand and Thompson based on campaign violations.
The Judicial Board Ruling for Case # 022 stated the Judicial Board found Anand “guilty of violating the Elections Bylaws in standing behind the computer screen and personally assisting students cast their votes.”
The day after the decision for the case was published, Anand and Thompson submitted the appeal, but the Judicial Board decided the initial decision will be upheld because “no new evidence or extenuating circumstances was presented, therefore rejecting the appeal,” as stated in the Judicial Board Ruling for Case # 022.
