VCU volleyball wins again

The VCU volleyball team had another huge weekend winning two CAA matches. On Friday the Rams rolled past in-state rival James Madison by a score of 3-1. On Saturday, VCU put themselves into the driver’s seat for a CAA regular season title by beating George Mason 3-2.

The VCU volleyball team had another huge weekend winning two CAA matches.

On Friday the Rams rolled past in-state rival James Madison by a score of 3-1. On Saturday, VCU put themselves into the driver’s seat for a CAA regular season title by beating George Mason 3-2. After struggling through games two and three, the Rams fought back and won the final two sets. VCU can clinch its first ever CAA regular season title with wins this coming weekend with matches at Georgia State and UNC Wilmington, two teams the Rams have already beaten this season.

Statistical leaders

Ivana Rich – Had eight blocks Friday night, becoming VCU’s all-time leader in that category.

Mariel Frey – 25 kills in the two matches. Led VCU with 14 in the win over James Madison on Friday night. Also had 28 digs and four serve aces.

Michala Kvapilova – 23 kills, including 19 on Friday night to lead the team. Had a .444 hitting percentage on Saturday night in the win over George Mason. Also had eight kills in the final two sets to lead the VCU comeback Saturday night.

Lenka Melicharkova – Had 85 assists over the weekend. Also added 19 digs and 9 kills in the two victories.

Marisa Low – recorded 43 digs.
