Investigation for former VCU police chief reopened after 5k

The investigation into the case of Willie B. Fuller was reopened Oct.13, after the former VCU police chief was seen at a 5-kilometer walk on Brook Road the previous Saturday. Charges had been dropped on Sept.10 because of a brain injury, from which Fuller was deemed incapable of aiding his own defense. Fuller was charged in January with soliciting sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Fuller’s brain injury resulted from a diabetic episode. Fuller’s doctors at MCV determined him incapable of making legal decisions and suggested he be placed under “intense supervision.” David J. Rigler, the assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Chesterfield County, is now investigating whether Fuller is now competent enough to stand trial.

Fuller, 50, was listed as 49 in the American Family Fitness seventh annual 5K/10K Walk/Run. He wore No. 1774. Fuller completed the walk in one hour and nine seconds, at a pace of 19:24 per mile.
