Four galleries have teamed up to display a unique exhibition, “Richard Carlyon: A Retrospective”, to honor Richard Carlyon, well-known Richmond artist and former VCU professor. Participating galleries include Anderson Gallery, Reynolds Gallery, 1708 Gallery and the Visual Arts Center. The exhibition premiered Sept. 11 and the final show ends at Anderson Gallery on Nov. 1.
According to a catalogue made in his honor, Carlyon led, “an extraordinary life in art,” in which “he held fast to the belief that art was of such importance that there was no substitute for trying to make the best art that he possibly could.”
