Light-hearted play comes to Shafer Street Playhouse

The Shafer Alliance Laboratory Theatre, a student run theater program, will host the second of nine productions this semester. “The Illusion” will be performed by students and directed by graduate student Matt McKay.

“The Illusion” is about a father looking for his

estranged son. As a final act of desperation he goes to a wizard, played by McKay, who conjures

informative events from his son’s life. This gives the father a glimpse into the son’s experiences over the past 15

years, McKay said.

McKay said the show as a fun, light-hearted and poetic love story.

“The whole thing becomes a big allegory for theater and there’s a nice surprise twist ending,”
