Four swine flu cases presumed at VCU

Since the fall semester began, VCU has had four possible cases of the H1N1 influenza virus in addition to the four cases reported during the summer. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the H1N1 virus is the only strain of influenza in circulation at this time.

“If a patient tests positive for influenza, A, the health department recommends assuming its H1N1 since the majority this spring and summer were H1N1,” said Dr. Margaret Roberson, the director of University Student Health Services.

According to Roberson, only patients who require hospitalization will be tested for H1N1.
