Swine flu on campus likely
Four students suffering from Influenza A were reported at VCU’s Student Health Center on June 26, with the possibility of ailing from the H1N1 “Swine Flu” virus. Under the advisement of the Virginia Department of Health, none of these cases have been tested for the H1N1 virus.

“The state department is not recommending it anymore, since most of the Influenza A cases being reported now are Swine Flu,” said Pam Lepley, director of VCU Communications and Public Relations. “And also since the treatment for swine flu is the same as any flu.”
The Virginia Department of Health is now only testing those who are at a greater risk of complications from the virus. “These include people hospitalized with flu-like illnesses, pregnant women, the elderly, the very young and people with underlying chronic health conditions,” states the VDH Web site.
