Kicked off this weekend’s series at Northeastern with a 7-2 victory on Friday night. Senior left-hander Ian Thomas (Virginia Beach/Kellam) had another spectacular outing, this time getting a complete game win. Doug Otto (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) went 1-5 with 2 RBIs on the day to lead the Rams, who only banged out eight hits.

In game two on Saturday, the Huskies rallied with a four run seventh to beat VCU 8-6. M.L. Morgan (Petersburg/Dinwiddie), R.J. Schenk (Yorktown/Tabb), Joe Van Meter (Oyster Bay, NY/St. Dominic) and Nate Furry (Salem/Salem) all had multi-hit games in the loss.
Men’s Basketball
Announced that star guard recruit Ben Eblen has been released from his scholarship upon his request. Eblen, a native of Melbourne, Fl., is the 28th best point guard in the country according to Scout.com. He was recruited and signed by former coach, Anthony Grant.
Also .
Dealt with the loss of Eblen by signing another top point guard prospect in Reggie Theus. Theus, from Portsmouth, is a 6’4″ combo guard who is said to be able to play multiple positions. He signed with VCU on Thursday and became the first signee of the Shaka Smart era at VCU.
