Watch out NCAA fans – March Madness has taken on new meaning in Richmond this year. The Science Museum of Virginia is having a rat basketball Final Four Thursday April 2.
According to an e-mail sent by Public Relations Manager Nancy Tait, the Science Museum’s most experienced players are playing for one of the Final Four NCAA teams-Luna is playing for Michigan State, Venus is playing for Connecticut, Twitch for Villanova and Comet for North Carolina.
“Our rats have their own little court,” says Coach and Gallery Education Assistant Director Laura Kramer. “They have a small ball which they learn to shoot through a hoop.”
Fans may have a new way to predict winners in the NCAA tournament. Last year in the rat games Kansas beat Memphis, days later Kansas went on to actually beat Memphis.
