VCU moved to 7-1 in the CAA Wednesday night with a 65-50 win over Georgia State University. Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover) led the Rams with 26 points. Maynor also did not turn the ball over in the game. Larry Sanders (Fort Pierce, Fla/ Port St. Lucie) had 11 and fellow sophomore Joey Rodriguez (Oviedo, Fla./Lake Howell) went 3-of-6 from the three-point line to finish with 13. Coupled with Northeastern’s win over George Mason, the win put the Rams in a two-way tie for Northeastern for first place in the CAA. The Rams and Huskies square off in Richmond in a pivotal conference game Tuesday night at 9 p.m.

Sophomore forward Lance Kearse (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers HS) is no longer with the team. Kearse averaged 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 11 games this season. Coach Anthony Grant did not give any reason for the move and will have no further comment on the situation.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Rams won their fifth straight game Thursday night as they routed Hofstra 83-58. Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake/Great Bridge) had another big performance scoring 16 points and adding 9 rebounds. The Rams also got a huge performance from La’Tavia Rorie (Charlotte, N.C./Hardin University H.S.) who had 17 on the night. VCU also was pleased to see senior leader Radoslava Bachvarova (Varna, Bulgaria/Daytona Beach C.C.) back on the floor. Bachvarova scored 12 points in he return from a leg injury. The Rams lost 73-60 to UNC Wilmington on Sunday in their first road game in more than two weeks, and are now 15-4 overall and 5-2 in the CAA.
MEN’S TENNIS
The team dropped a 6-1 decision at Duke on Saturday. Sophomore Bobo Delemark (Danderyd, Sweden) provided the victory for the team, winning on the No. 6 singles court edging Duke sophomore Alain Michel 3-6, 6-4, 1-0, (10-5). They return to the Thalhimer Tennis Center on Tuesday as they face off against Princeton.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
The Rams were 4-0 this weekend in the VCU 4×1 Invitational. On Friday they logged a 4-1 win over Georgetown and a 5-0 win over George Mason. On Saturday they followed up their strong performance with 5-0 wins over Campbell and Longwood.
