Earlier this week, a deal between Michael Vick and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals fell through. The deal called for Vick to do a public service announcement warning people against dog fighting. The deal fell through when Vick and his representatives asked PETA to not stand in his way if he got a chance to return to the NFL.

Maynor’s historic day leads Rams to victory
The VCU Rams took to the Alltel Pavilion court Saturday with a couple of goals in mind. They wanted to win their season-high seventh game in a row and also remain tied atop the CAA standings.
The Rams had won three of the last four over rival George Mason, which was without its leading scorer, John Vaughan, coming into the game.
‘Wrestler’ puts audience in firm grip
“My only faith’s in the broken bones and bruises I display.” This describes Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Mickey Rourke), the main character in “The Wrestler.” The line shows up in Bruce Springsteen’s song of the same name, written and performed by the legendary artist at the request of Rourke himself.
Singer hits high notes with audience
Standing gracefully in front of a crowd of more than 50 Friday night at the James W. Black Music Center, Nicole LoPiccolo serenaded the audience at her junior recital, doing what she feels most comfortable doing these days-singing.
LoPiccolo – a vocal performance major – saw a window of opportunity a year ago when she was able to hit notes higher than before.
PLOTTING FOR THE FUTURE
The dance and choreography department presents “Human Maps” Friday and Saturday at the Grace Street Theatre. Aside from the Senior Dance Project Concert, the Student Concert is the only student-produced concert of the semester, showcasing the prowess of the department’s younger choreographers.
No such thing as ‘gun show’ loophole
The press continues to parrot the talking points of anti-gun advocates, especially the use of the phrase “gun show loophole.” Some media outlets have gone even further, and reported that firearms dealers at gun shows are selling guns without doing the proper background checks, which is simply false.

Dear VCU Administration,
As a student, I think you have sometimes gone completely overboard in your policies to prevent us from doing anything other than what we’re told. If what I’ve understood about learning at a university is true, we would be allowed to do as we feel in regard to our education-as we are the ones paying for it both with the wallet and with the grades.
Utility Rate Bill to Phase in Increases
As a form of consumer protection, the State Corporation Commission might soon regulate electric-utility rate increases. Proposed House Bill 2315 would require justification for increases.
The bill, introduced by delegate Charles “Bill” Carrica, R-Galax, passes, proposed rate increases 15 percent higher than the previous year would be phased into residential billing.
