Student parking limited

Parking at VCU is more limited this semester with the implementation of a two-zone parking system by the Fan District Association.

A parking pass is now required to park in a number of the neighborhoods adjacent to VCU previously open to students. Combining this with already limited parking resources around campus provides for tense situations with parking.

A 2006 research contract between VCU and tobacco giant Philip Morris USA has garnered a massive amount of national media attention, but not necessarily attention from students.

THE OLYMPICS

This year’s Olympic Games have been dominated by the greatness of U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps. When you turn on the television to watch the games, you rarely go long without hearing about or seeing him.

Phelps has received a lot of recognition for his accomplishments, and he has earned every bit of it.

Comeback falls short

The VCU Rams women’s soccer team finished up its exhibition schedule Saturday night at SportsBackers Stadium, a 3-2 loss to the Washington Freedom.

The highly anticipated exhibition seemed it would provide more questions than answers early on in the match, as the Freedom dominated the first half.

Springsteen, legendary E-Street Band roll for hours

Fun, fun, fun-that is what it was all about this past Monday at the Richmond Coliseum. Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band proved they can and still do hang with the big dogs, delivering a show that flew past the three-hour mark.

Opening with the thunderous drumbeat of the 1975 song “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” Bruce had the capacity crowd of 13,500 singing before he, himself, began the song.

Lawlor said, because art is a natural talent for him, he has chosen to major in film. It challenges him more, he said.
