Wilder School presents Excellence in Virginia Government Awards
VCU’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs will honor six individuals and two organizations for contributions to government and to Virginia’s communities.
The awards will be presented during the Fourth Annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards ceremony on Thursday, Dec.
VCU’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs will honor six individuals and two organizations for contributions to government and to Virginia’s communities.
The awards will be presented during the Fourth Annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
The following awards will be presented: The Lifetime Achievement Award to Susan Aheron Magill, former chief of staff for Sen. John Warner The Innovation in Government Award to Todd Christensen, deputy director of the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The Public-Private Partnership Award will be presented to the Virginia Council on Economic Education and its executive director. The Community Enhancement Award will be presented to The Hispanic Committee of Virginia. The Hill-Robinson Expansion of Freedom Award will be presented to Gov. A. Linwood Holton, Jr., who served as governor from 1970 to 1974. The Unsung Hero Award will be presented to Brenda Edwards, senior research assistant for the Division of Legislative Services.
