AROUND CAMPUS
When I first heard the plan to move the student sections away from the sidelines and mainly under the baskets at the Siegel Center, I had mixed emotions. On one hand (the journalist hand), I would be able to watch basketball games and take notes without hearing the constant jabbing at the referees.

Maynor’s surge lifts Rams over South Dakota State
VCU players – and their coaches – have accused themselves of standing around and watching senior point guard Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover) during the game. On Wednesday night, he gave them a reason to. Maynor scored 10 of his game-high 29 points in the final seven minutes to help slam the door on South Dakota State, 72-56.

That doesn’t mean the film is bad; although not as good as the previous entry, “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace” has impressive action and an unquestionable asset in Daniel Craig.
Students to serenade in short scenes
After a semester’s worth of rehearsals, Opera Theatre VCU students will perform “Frequency First,” this weekend-a collection of opening scenes and arias from an assortment of operas.
The scenes – directed by first-time VCU stage director Ken Wood and comprised of 20 students – are from “The Old Maid And The Thief,” “Hansel and Gretel,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Cos
Dancing to the finish line
Thirty-seven dancers, seven impassioned pieces, four years in the making.
Thursday night sees the opening of the first leg of the VCU Senior Project Dance Concerts at the Grace Street Theater. Entitled “The Dance Show,” the fall installment will feature the works of seven talented choreographers interpreted by their carefully-cast classmates.
Budget cuts needed but hurtful: a painful necessity
With the economy having hit near rock bottom over the past several months, VCU is one of the many universities to feel the effects.
The effects of the down-turning economy are worrying some students. Some complain of not being able to register for certain classes because of cancellations- a result of budget cuts.
