Kenyan wins Richmond Marathon
Jynocel Basweti of Kenya won the SunTrust Richmond Marathon on Saturday, beating last year’s winner by more than two minutes.
The 21-year-old Basweti, who trains in Albuquerque, N.M., won his third marathon in three months with a time of 2:22:22. He also won the Quad Cities Marathon in September and the Denver Marathon in October.

Mohamed Awol, an Ethiopian living in New York, was second in 2:24:51, followed by David Cheromei of Lynchburg, Va., at 2:28:04. Frimin Kipchoge of Chapel Hill, N.C., was fourth in 2:28:05 and Paul Rugut was fifth in 2:28:09.
Kristin Price of Raleigh, N.C., was the women’s winner in 2:45:02. Hirot Legesse of New York was second in 2:46:24.
