Richmond Circuit Judge Walter W. Stout III sentenced 41-year-old Stacey Carter for the crime Thursday. Carter had entered a plea that, while not admitting guilt, acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him.
Authorities say Carter doused 33-year-old Angela Squire with gasoline and set her on fire on New Year’s Eve after she broke up with him. Squire, a nurse and mother of four, suffered third-degree burns and died nine days after the attack.
