The contractor for a construction project in Chester is disputing an engineering report that faults the company for a fatal building collapse last month.

An engineer hired by Chesterfield County to review the collapse, said in a report the building contractor wasn’t diligent about installing all required lateral bracing.

An attorney for McBar Industries says he and his client are still reviewing the report but strongly disagree with its conclusion.

County officials said Friday they don’t plan to file criminal charges in the Sept. 10 collapse.

An investigation determined the building collapsed and killed insulation contractor Scott Giordano after workers overloaded a shipment of drywall onto a floor that wasn’t properly braced.
