Iran president: U.S. ’empire’ nears collapse
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the U.N. General Assembly Tuesday declaring that “the American empire” is nearing collapse and should end its military involvement in other countries.
Ahmadinejad said terrorism is spreading quickly in Afghanistan while “the occupiers” are still in Iraq nearly six years after Saddam Hussein was ousted from power in Iraq.

Ranked opponents shut out the Rams this past Thursday and Sunday. On Thursday, the women lost to eighth-ranked Virginia, 3-0. Virginia’s Inge Kaars Sijpesteijn scored two goals in the game. On Sunday, the women lost to 17th-ranked Rutgers, 4-0.

This past Monday in the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson caught a beautiful 55-yard pass from quarterback Donovan McNabb. Jackson then proceeded to run the remaining five yards to the endzone for the touchdown.

Chicago/New York City-based rockers, These Are Powers will visit Richmond this Tuesday to promote their new CD, “Taro Tarot.” What little amount of musical imitation These Are Powers clings to, genres are irrelevant. The band’s strengths lie not where its allegiance to its predecessors are (“Sonic Youth,” “Animal Collective,” “Panda Bear”), but rather, in its solid ability to douse the ears in raw emotion.

Interior decorator rollin’ toward dreams
After finishing art foundation at VCU, sophomore Diana Chang was perplexed as to what art direction she wanted to pursue. The more thought she put into it, the more she was drawn to interior design.
Chang said one reason she picked interior design was her love of modern homes and buildings.
Late poet lives on through annual Levis Reading Prize
Matthew Donovan recalls the time a graduate school friend recommended he check out some of Larry Levis’ writings. He walked into the bookstore and cracked it open and remembers “feeling as if Levis was directly whispering in my ear.” He immediately felt a sense of affinity and engagement with Levis’ writing.
How Facebook broke my heart
