Police Lieutenant Doug Perry made the announcement Thursday, a day after the resident called to report a raccoon acting strangely in the 2600 block of Felspar Drive. By the time an officer arrived, the caller had already killed the animal.
Perry said because of the condition of the body and the description of the raccoon’s actions, the officer decided to have the animal tested for rabies. Perry said the raccoon had no known contact with people or pets.
