BASEBALL

VCU won its Tuesday night
contest over VMI, 5-3, in Lexington.

picked up his first win over the season
for the Rams, pitching four innings
of shutout ball and giving up only
three hits. Chris Jackson (Midlothian/
Manchester) and Michael Cheatham
(Chesterfield/Matoaca) each drove in
two runs in the victory.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Colonial Athletic Association All-
First Team member Krystal Vaughn
(Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton-Eastern)
was drafted Wednesday by the
Washington Mystics of the WNBA
with the 34th overall pick. Vaughn
will report to camp April 20.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Rams released their fall schedule
this week, which is highlighted
by matches with CAA foes Towson,
Drexel, Delaware, Hofstra and Northeastern
at SportsBackers Stadium with
the remaining conference teams on
the road. VCU opens play Aug. 29 at
Richmond and plays North Carolina
State Sept. 5 and UNC Greensboro
Sept. 7 in the North Carolina State
Invitational. Virginia, Loyola, Bucknell,
Wofford and Navy are also on
the schedule. The CAA Tournament
will be held Nov. 4-9.

MEN’S TENNIS

Junior Martin Schulhauser (Karvina,
Czech Republic) was named
CAA single’s player of the week after
winning both his matches against
No. 38 Louisville and No. 40 South
Florida this past weekend. The team
lost 4-2 at Virginia Tech Wednesday.
Junior Emil Lindgren (Stocksund,
Sweden) won his singles match and
teamed with senior Sebastien Ripoll
(Mauleon-Soule/France) in doubles
play for another win. The Rams are
now 15-7.
