If the best things in life are free, then, for the first time, VCU’s recreation, fitness and wellness programs are among the best things. VCU Recreational Sports will be providing free group exercise classes to all students. In the past, students had to pay $50 for a semester of group exercise classes or $30 for a seven-week session.

Fascinating ‘American Gangster’ raises award-season bar
Director Ridley Scott’s latest addition to the mob biopic genre, “American Gangster,” is a well-written exposé of 1970s New York, police corruption, one man’s rise to power and another man’s struggle to bring him to justice. In the film, which is based on a true story, Denzel Washington stars as Frank Lucas, a Harlem-based gangster who managed to smuggle copious amounts of pure cocaine into the United States during the Vietnam War.

Dear Editor, One reason to stop caging responsible adult humans for using the relatively safe God-given plant cannabis (kaneh bosm/marijuana) that doesn’t get mentioned (“Is medical marijuana a big deal?” Nov. 5, 2007) is because it is biblically correct since Christ God Our Father, The Ecologician, indicates he created all the seed-bearing plants, saying they are all good, on literally the very first page (see Genesis 1:11-12 and 29-30).
