WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Rams improved to 2-0
on Tuesday night after a 71-38
victory over American, in Washington,
D.C. Sophomore Kita
Waller (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville)
scored a career-high 23
points in the victory. Krystal
Vaughn (Baltimore/Lake Clifton-
Eastern) scored 15 points
and grabbed seven rebounds
in the win, while La’Tavia
Rorie (Charlotte, N.C./Harding
University) added 13 points
and six boards. VCU led by as
many as 24 in the first half, as
it cruised out to a 33-9 lead and
never looked back. The Rams
play again on Sunday afternoon
in Philadelphia against Saint
Joseph’s.

MEN’S SOCCER

Junior defenseman Gerson
Dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/
E.E. Ruth Cabral Troncarelli)
earned co-CAA player of the
week after last week’s effort in
the Rams’ 2-1 victory over James
Madison. Dos Santos knocked
home the winning goal on a
penalty kick and assisted on
the score in the victory that
helped VCU earn the third
seed in this week’s conference
tournament.
