MEN’S BASKETBALL

Junior guard Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C./Westover) was named as one
of the 50 preseason candidates for the Men’s 2007-2008 John R. Wooden
Award. The list was announced Wednesday by the Los Angeles Athletic
Club’s Wooden Award Committee for the nation’s most prestigious college
basketball honor. Maynor, who was already named CAA men’s basketball
preseason Player of the Year last week, averaged 6.4 assists per game last
season, ranking him fifth in the country. Maynor is the only CAA candidate
for the award.
