Start your First Friday a little
earlier than usual this weekend by
stopping by what is arguably the
smallest gallery in Richmond.
“Locker 50b” is located on
the third floor of the Fine Arts
Building at 1000 W. Broad St. In
2002, undergraduate painting and
printmaking major Virginia Samsel
turned her 12-inch wide, 14-inch
tall, 19-inch deep student locker
into a gallery space. She curated
the gallery until she graduated in
2004 and returned in 2006 as the
director of the VCUarts Locker
50b Project.
The gallery exhibits the work
of undergraduate and graduate
students, VCU faculty and alumni,
and regionally, nationally and
internationally known professional
artists.
This Friday’s gallery opening will
feature the art of Jeff Debell and
Kathy Rosen and will be held from
5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
