Fabrice (Fabrice Luchini) is a mid-forties office worker whose only joy in life comes not from his wife or daughter, but from France’s biggest rock star Johnny Hallyday.
Walking home drunk from the bar one night, Fabrice is singing his idol’s songs at the top of his lungs when a large man, upset by Fabrice’s late-night serenade, bursts out of his house and knocks him out.
When Fabrice awakes, he is in a parallel universe, one in which Johnny Hallyday does not exist. Some other guy is France’s biggest rock star. Just when Fabrice is beginning to think life is not worth living, he finds Hallyday managing a local bowling alley. Hallyday’s real name is Jean-Philippe Smet.
Fabrice starts a crusade to convince Jean-Philippe to restart his rock career, telling him he was meant to be a star.
Through hilarious trials and tribulations, Jean-Philippe digs down and finds the rock star within him.
Fabrice gets knocked out once again. What will he wake up to this time? The ending is too funny to reveal. This film tells you to follow your destiny, and never give up on your dreams.
