Thousands flocked to Carytown over the weekend, packing the Byrd Theatre to maximum capacity, all for the love of French cinema.
The 15th annual VCU French Film Festival screened twelve feature-length films, as well as 12 short films shown in two sets of six. The films encompassed many different genres: Comedy, drama, fantasy, documentary and romance.
The films examine myriad themes and subjects, including homosexuality, parallel universes, controlling friendships, unrest in Africa, small-town life, family relationships and the life of French president Jacques Chirac.
