Brett Walker (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) took home the victory Friday, while Howard Deemer (Washington, N.J./Belvidere) suffered the loss Saturday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Head coach Anthony Grant was named CAA Coach of the Year by conference head coaches, sports information directors and members of the media. Eric Maynor (Fayetteville, N.C./Westover) was named First Team All-CAA. B.A. Walker (Onancock, Va./Nandua) was named to the second team and Jesse Pellot-Rosa (Richmond, Va./George Wythe) was named to the third team. T.J. Gwynn (Burlington, N.C./Cummings) was named to the CAA All-Rookie team and Calvin Roland (Hephzibah, Ga./Hephzibah) was named to the All-Academic Team.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Rams’ five-game winning streak was snapped last Monday night with a 75-53 loss at William & Mary. Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) led the way for VCU with 18 points and 10 rebounds, her 10th double-double of the season. Krystal Vaughn (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton-Eastern) pitched in 13 points and LaKea Jones (Fort Washington, Md./National Christian Academy) had six assists in the loss.

The Rams finish the regular season 9-9 in the CAA and 16-12 overall, and will be the sixth seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

MEN’S TENNIS

The 21st-ranked Rams suffered a tough loss Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to No. 4 Baylor. The Baylor Bears have four of the top 100 players in the nation (as ranked by the ITA), including No. 25 Michal Kokta, who defeated 54th-ranked Arnaud Le Cloerec (Plouhinec, France) 7-6 (5), 6-0. The Rams bounced back with a 4-1 triumph over No. 42 Southern Methodist, although the match between No. 43 Alex Skrypko and Petr Olsak was unfinished. They stand at 11-6.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

The 22nd-ranked Rams improved to 14-3 on the season and have won five of six after defeating No. 66 Virginia Tech 6-1 on Saturday. Marianna Yuferova (St. Petersburg, Russia) highlighted the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 72 Inga Beemann.
