A pillow fight, step competition, talent show, “pimp my wheels,” poker game, ’80s dance party, “name that tune” and comedy show are just a few of the activities students will be enjoying during this week’s Homecoming celebrations.
The University Student Commons and Activities board has prepared an action-packed line up of fun events students can watch and take part in.
Kicking off the festivities is a Mock New Year’s Eve Party with DJ Juan on Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom. The closing event is the men’s basketball game against Georgia State Feb. 3, 2 p.m., in the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
The highlight of the week is a “VCU’s Got Talent” competition Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Siegel Center, judged by none other than Flavor Flav.
On Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Commonwealth Ballroom is the “Local Talent Comedy Show.” It features Nick Cantone, Erik Meyers and Odyssey Michaels, three successful comics who’ve called Richmond home, at least for part of their lives.
Cantone has opened for comedians Dave Attell, Dane Cook and Lewis Black. Michaels was an opening act for the likes of Brett Butler, Colin Quinn and Paul Mooney.
VCU English major and comedian Pat Dean is hosting the show.
In the always-heated Homecoming court contest, 10 women are vying for the title of queen, but only three guys are up for king.
