ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – Each day gets more beautiful than the last at the Paradise Jam in the resort city of St. Thomas. After losing the opener to Xavier 67-70 Friday, the Rams put forth an effort to ensure the trip overseas would not be wasted solely on peaceful walks through the quiet emerald countryside as they dominated the Charleston Cougars 71-59.

B.A. Walker (Onancock, Va./Nandua HS) scored the 1,000th point of his career in the final nine minutes during Saturday’s game against the Cougars.

The Rams play Toledo today at 3:30 p.m. EST and the only way to catch it is by tuning a radio to WARV at 100.3 FM.

Pride 32 30 30 – 3

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Rams took the first two games of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament but lost 0-3 Sunday to the number one team in the CAA, the Hofstra Pride. After Sunday’s shutout the Rams came home to Richmond where they will lie dormant until the Long Beach State Tournament taking place Friday, Nov. 24th-Saturday Nov. 25th.

Ludmila Francescatto named to CAA First Team once again

The volleyball team’s senior outside hitter Ludmila Francescatto (Fraiburga, Brazil) was named to the 2006 All-CAA First Team for the second time in her two seasons at VCU. This season, she puts 457 kills on the record, ranking herself third in school history. She was given the First Team honors last year for a similar performance.

Ludmila Francescatto, like the Rams’ coach James Finley, came to VCU in 2005 from Arizona Western C.C. in Yuma, Ariz.
