The Nanci Raygun will shut its doors Aug. 31 because of maintenance issues with the building, but the owners are hopeful that they can reopen the campus-area club by November.

Power to the people
Ladies and gentlemen, pick up your phones and vote for your newest superstar.

The contestants on last season’s “American Idol” received a record-breaking number of votes.
Aguilera keeps it real with new album
Music sometimes feels similar to clothing. The Backstreet Boys probably have faded while Britney Spears fits too awkwardly at this point.
Christina Aguilera, however, is a comfortable fit.
Her new offering, “Back to Basics,” pays homage to musicians like Lena Horne, John Coltrane and Aretha Franklin from past eras.
New, healthier options pop out of the box
Five Guys. Qdoba. Extreme Pizza. Between Shafer and Laurel, there are more fast food restaurants now than the average VCU student can shake a stick at. From pizza to burgers, to wraps and tacos, the 900 block of West Broad offers a diverse arrangement of available eateries that are open from dawn until dusk.
Stars’ steaminess causes backlash
India banned Paris Hilton’s video, “Stars Are Blind,” for its sexual connotations. EMI Virgin marketing, however, seeks to slide past the ban using the open range of Internet waves.
“To the best of our knowledge, there are no rules yet regarding censorship on the “Net so we plan to use the online platform to generate buzz,” EMI Virgin marketing manager Kaveri Khullar said to Billboard.
