Although the Department of Psychology remains on West Franklin Street, it no longer occupies the same offices it used to.

This summer, the department consolidated its administrative, advising and fiscal offices under one roof at the White House, located at 806 W. Franklin St. The VCU Clark-Hill Institute for Positive Youth Development, which was spread across three buildings, now occupies the Hunton House next door at 810 W. Franklin St. The department also acquired the Bird House at 820 W. Franklin St.

Linda Zyzniewski, assistant professor and director of undergraduate studies, said the changes will make the psychology department more visible to its approximately 1,300 undergraduate majors. In the coming months, she added, they can expect the university to assign them advisers instead of serving them on a walk-in basis.

Until then, the psychology department, which is the largest undergraduate program at VCU, will use Blackboard to communicate with its students about more departmental changes, Zyzniewski said.
