What are your thoughts on the government’s decision to allow women ages 18 and older to buy emergency contraception without a doctor’s prescription?

A

“I think it’s completely reasonable, because if men can just go out and get condoms, why can’t women go out and get a pill?”

Stuart Dumais, freshman
Art foundation

“If you’re going to do it you need to know what it’s going to do. I feel like because it’s available over the counter, it’s easy to go do that without reading into the details of what it does.”

Kelly Fenner, senior
Fashion merchandising

“I think it’s great making it more available. I don’t think it’s something you should use everyday, but if it’s needed, and someone is in that situation, it’s great that it’s now available for those needed.”

Audrey Waple, sophomore
Pre-health/biology

“I think it will probably be abused by some people. But people want what they can’t have, so maybe they won’t use it as much as people think they will now.”

Phil Ceconi, sophomore
Mass communications

“Initially I thought it was a good idea, but I think in a way it could promote going out and having sex since there’s less restrictions on getting it. And in today’s society that’s not a safe thing to do.”

Stacy Moore, sophomore
Nursing
