Busch Gardens Europe announced a new coaster for thrill seekers. Since the beginning of July, BGE promoted the ride with an advertising campaign of billboards announcing, “Like Nothing Else in the World.” But that was it; there was no information, and no way to guess what they were up to.
Until now. BGE revealed their mystery in the making: Griffon, “the world’s tallest and only floorless dive coaster,” Cindy Sarko and Diane Centeno said in a press release. It is scheduled to make its debut late spring 2007.
Riders will travel 205 feet in the air and then plunge 90 degrees at more than 75 miles per hour. The 10-person floorless coaster car will glide through two Immelman loops (a loop and roll occurring simultaneously), a 130-foot dive and a water feature with a viewing platform for those who would rather watch than ride.
Rollercoaster lovers have waited for a new arrival at Busch Gardens since the last addition of Apollo’s Chariot in 1999. The 3,108-feet coaster will be located in the park’s French village.
