Spring Bash brings indie rock to Student Commons
Friday night’s Spring Bash at the University Student Commons had a little something for all fans of rock music, hosting three indie rock bands: Cinema Sophia, The Sounds of Kaleidoscope, and The Lilys.
Cinema Sophia kicked off the Spring Bash and they had some very harmonic extended jams exhibiting experience in the group’s ability to capture mood.
‘Traffic at the Grace’ showcases VCU Dance’s talent
A brilliant white light shines down to expose figures moving through a thin fog. Warm orange light floods the stage from behind to reveal eight white-clad bodies eerily dancing, like ethereal other-worldly beings.
This is “Angle of Incidence,” the first piece in the second act of VCU Dance Department’s performance “Traffic at the Grace: Dancing in the Now” at the Grace Street Theater, which they performed last weekend.
TASTE OF CHAOS Tour rocks the house at ODU
The Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk hosted the Taste of Chaos Tour Wednesday, featuring a two-stage, 12 band concert.
The tour is a project started by Kevin Lyman, the creator of Warped Tour. Many people refer to the Taste of Chaos Tour as the “Winter Warped Tour” because of the similarity of bands and setup of the show.

SGA elections to be held this week
Student Government Association elections will run from Tuesday to Thursday, and voting is done online. Three executive office positions – student body president, student body vice president and executive director of university relations – will be filled. Also, 25 senatorial positions are up for election.
VCU professor named Outstanding Scientist
John T. Povlishock, chairman of the Anatomy and Neurobiology Department at the VCU School of Medicine, is among four honorees who will receive awards as Virginia’s Outstanding Scientists and Industrialists for 2006.
The quartet was introduced to the General Assembly on Thursday, March 2.
Speaker discusses misconceptions
Ishmael Khaldi, an Israeli Bedouin Arab, spoke Tuesday night in the University Student Commons about life as a minority in Israel.
The event was sponsored by VCU’s Commonwealth Students for Israel as well as Alpha Epsilon Pi, a Jewish brotherhood that freshman Steven Flick said aims to increase Jewish activity through social and educational means.
