Nick George (Manchester, England) led the Rams with a game-high 20 points, while Eric Maynor (Fayetteville, N.C.) scored a career-high 18 points.

The Rams jumped on the Tribe early, scoring the first 11 points and led by as many as 24 points in the first half before holding a 46-25 lead at the half.

The Tribe mounted a charge in the second half to cut the Rams’ lead to eight points.

George responded with a pair of free throws to push the lead back to double-digits with 3:35 to go.

The Rams, who shot 55.6 percent, used a 12-4 run over the final 5 minutes and made 9 of 10 free throws to secure the win.

B.A. Walker (Onancock/Nandua High School) scored 12 of his 16 points from behind the arc for the Rams and held the Tribe to less than 40 percent shooting.

Nathan Mann paced the Tribe, registering 16 points off the bench, including four 3-pointers. Corey Cofield chipped in 12 points.

The Rams will try to repeat their performance as VCU matches up against the Tribe in the first round of the CAA Tournament, which begins Friday at the Richmond Coliseum.
