VCU assistant field hockey coach Nate Coolidge (Sandwich, Mass.) was selected to compete with the U.S. Men’s National Field Hockey team at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego.
Rams will host Bracket Buster
VCU will host Albany on one of ESPN’s networks during Bracket Buster weekend Feb. 17-18. Game times and network assignments will be announced Feb. 7. The Great Danes, who are in first place in the America East, have never played the Rams. This will be VCU’s second game televised by ESPN in a week. The Rams host Old Dominion Feb. 11, on ESPN2.
Hollingsworth top rookie again
VCU’s Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake/Great Bridge High School), the 6-4 center, was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, averaging 15.5 points and eight rebounds in losses at Northeastern and Delaware. The redshirt freshman is also featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces In The Crowd.
Rams run at Penn State
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Freshman Tim Rusterholz (Lewisville, N.C.) ran to a fourth-place finish in the 600-meter run, and Mariusz Mostrag (Krajnik, Poland) and Lukasz Matusiewicz finished fifth in the 800 and 1000 respectively. Davion Lambert (Richmond/Varina High School) was sixth place in the long jump and ninth in the high jump.
