This here ain’t no city folk rock album, this here’s Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. These good ol’ boys have made their way out of the backwoods and straight into your new-fangled m-pay-3 doohickey. Ten tracks that are tough as nails and as hard as a whoopin’ from mama, but don’t let the bad grammar fool you, this is a solid release.
Leading this band of southern gentlemen is Dallas Taylor, former front man for Underoath. His raspy screaming and powerful singing drive this album of heavy breakdowns and metal guitar riffs. Unlike many other hard albums these days, you won’t find yourself angry at your parents after listening. The music brings about more of a party, up-beat feeling with the southern influence in the guitars and vocal styles.
So go ahead and invite all your rowdy friends over to share in this musical experience. They’ll be happier than a hog wallowing in mud. Whatever that means.
