Knowing nothing about this band when I inserted the new full-length release, “Book of Sand,” from Tarantula A.D., I instantly got very, very confused. And almost an hour later when the disc was all finished, I think I was even more confused than when I started. I’m not exactly sure what I could call Tarantula A.D. The music goes through many different styles and moods. There are string instruments, and then out of nowhere, loud rocking metal-like guitar riffs. There are very little vocals in any of the songs. The last track on the album does feature Devendra Banhart, though. If you want something to weird you out, listen to this.
