Alice Walker once said: “The animals of the world were not made for people any more than blacks were made for whites or women for men.” While we rightly look back on the cruelty of the past with indignation, it is also essential that we take a stand against present cruelty.
The missing language: Japanese at VCU
So I’m sitting here thinking about where exactly I want to go to graduate school in a year. I found out that if I want to do anything with my degree in history, I have to have my master’s in order to do so. So I figured I’d like to write my thesis on something in Asian studies, mostly in the area of Japan.

At the end of October, The Commonwealth Times will be moving along with WVCW Radio and other student media to our new home at 817 W. Broad St., joining the ever-expanding ranks of Monroe Park Campus buildings that call Broad Street home.
VCU turned to the Broad Street corridor in the mid-1990s as a focus for future expansion after first being turned away from Oregon Hill by its vocal residents.
