Your Turn: Letters to the Editor

After 16 years together, Green Day still rocks! They played Old Dominion University’s Constant Convocation Center Friday, April 22nd at 8:00p.m. My Chemical Romance opened the show for half an hour. They rocked, but could not compare to Green Day.

Opinion in Brief

Calm before the storm

In our nation’s capital, legislators on Capitol Hill are preparing for an all-out smackdown of the ages -on two fronts. One, Senate Republicans are ready to get rid of the filibuster – a long-standing Senate tradition – in the name of confirming their most controversial judicial nominees.

Pope on a rope

I caught myself looking at one of those stupid Gallup polls yesterday, courtesy of America’s only newspaper, USA Today. Those things always crack me up, mostly because of the stupid subjects they are claiming to staticize, quanticize or whatever. Even if their results were accurate and not totally biased to their own agenda, to me they would still mean nothing.

Advice for the graduates: graduate school or career bound, here’s to the journey of life

What is the purpose of a college education? For those graduates going on to higher degrees, the purpose is to successfully complete the necessary prerequisites. But what is the purpose for those with no immediate plans to pursue further education? To prepare for the “real world”? To qualify for a career instead of a job? To make more money? To have security? Leonard goes pitch for pitch with UNC, Tar Heels win late

John Leonard was only supposed to go three innings against North Carolina yesterday, but he was throwing so well.

Those three innings came and went and he had only given up two runs (one earned) on three hits and an error.

Leonard sat the Tar Heels down in order in the fourth and told head coach Paul Keyes to leave him in.

CAA championship has a nice ring to it

Davion Lambert has been thinking about the 24-point gap that separated second-place VCU and two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association champion William & Mary.

That’s a lot to think about.

The process would probably start somewhere around the shot put, where the Tribe racked up 24 points by dominating the top three spots in the shot put.
