Your Turn: Letters to the Editor

Law and disorder In response to Michael Dickinson’s March 21 article on bail reform, I could not have said it better myself. My daughter received a traffic ticket in Atlanta, and as a result I can surely understand why Mr. Nichols did what he did. Go to the courtrooms in Atlanta and you will not believe what goes on there.

Spring is in the air: exposed bodies bring health issues to mind

I have found that the change in seasons at VCU yields very particular changes in its female students. As the dogwoods bloom, piles and layers of fleece and sweatshirts give way to bare midriffs and short skirts or more suitable attire for better weather. It really is quite a sight to behold, likened to watching butterflies emerge from cocoons to show all their bright colors.

The injustice of ‘Justice Sunday’

Why does Christianity in this country automatically have to be assoicated with radical conservatism? Or I should ask, why are some conservatives hijacking the Christian religion to serve their own ultra-conservative interests?

Normally I wouldn’t care – we all know President Bush is a man of faith, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

These last four years: Done with college, on to the rest of life

As many of you might already know, apparently the kind folks at Founders Hall decided I will be graduating this coming May. Well, that means college is over for me, at least for a while. So, when this thought struck my feeble mind, I got to reminiscing, and – when I wasn’t so teary-eyed like the kind of pansy I always complain about in my articles – I came up with some really cool stuff I thought I’d share with you about what college has meant to me during these last four years and what we can learn from it all.

Candlelight walk sheds light on domestic violence, sexual assault

Rape: Today’s most common violent crime on American college campuses.

Sixty-five people last week sat in the Richmond Salon Room at the University Student Commons to learn more about rape on the Monroe Park campus at VCU’s “Take Back the Night” event. The crowd of mostly teenagers and early 20s white, black and middle-aged women and men listened to speakers before walking with candles through Monroe Park.

VCU student abducted from convenience store

Last Sunday morning, VCU student Abdullah Haidari ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was abducted at the 7-Eleven at 1003 W. Grace St. at approximately 12:40 a.m., while sitting in the back seat of a 2000 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro.

Dr. Henry Lee

I understand that Dr. Henry Lee showed autopsy photos of Laci and Conner Peterson during Monday’s seminar. Is that true? If so, doesn’t it draw raise a question of ethical behaviors by one of the most well known forensic experts in the world? Could you confirm if Dr. Lee did indeed show those autopsy photos?

Men’s and women’s track share second-place finishes in CAA Championships

The men’s track team knew a long time ago that two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association champion William & Mary wasn’t their biggest threat going into this year’s meet.

Assistant coach Jason Smith said it a couple months ago.

Sophomore jumper Brandon Argro said it a couple of days ago.

It wasn’t so much the Tribe that the team was worried about, Argro said, as it was UNC Wilmington, the team that won six straight titles between 1997 and 2002.
