Up next for the Rams
George Mason (7-5 CAA, 20-11 overall)
The last time these two teams met the Patriots exploded for an eight-run third inning and beat the Rams 11-3 to bounce them for the CAA tournament. Harold Mozingo, then a freshman, gave up nine runs to in three innings. Now a senior, Mozingo is third in the conference in wins and despite taking the loss to Virginia Tech last Friday, he gave up fewer earned runs than he has any other start this season.
Player of the Week
UNC Wilmington’s Chris Hatcher earned the honor last week and lived up to the billing by going 5 for14 in three games against Delaware with five runs and three RBI. The sophomore outfielder led off the third inning of the Seahawks 16-6 win on Saturday with a solo shot, his seventh of the season.
Pitcher of the Week
The award had the reverse effect on Seahawks senior starter Jeff Moore, who took his first loss of the season, giving up four runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings of a 7-6 loss to the Blue Hens Sunday, He almost escaped with a no decision, but Delaware’s sophomore left-hander Billy Harris turned out the lights on a Seahawks rally, striking out five in 3.1 innings of shoutout ball to end the game and hand UNCW its first conference loss.
