Improving wireless

A new login system for the university’s wireless Internet access has begun appearing on computer screens in recent weeks. The old system still works, but for those students that have noticed, the new alternative is a welcome change that will surely help encourage wireless Internet use around campus.

Rams gave it their all; Fans, on the other hand, need a lesson in etiquette

Many times in sports, when you lose, you really win. Such was the case Monday night when, after fighting valiantly and taking the number-one Old Dominion Monarchs into overtime, time finally ran out on our Rams as we lost 66 to 73. The loss capped a weeklong roller-coaster ride of excitement that started innocently at the Siegel Center with a comeback over UNC-Wilmington and ended Monday night at the Richmond Coliseum.

“The road to making the championship game is never an easy road,” said VCU head coach Jeff Capel of his team’s hard-fought effort Sunday night against UNC Wilmington.

Jury convicts man of stalking Mel Gibson

LOS ANGELES (AP) – An Idaho drifter who claimed he was on a mission from God to pray with actor-director Mel Gibson was convicted of felony stalking Friday.

Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before finding 34-year-old Zack Sinclair guilty.

Sinclair could face 16 months to 3 years in prison.

Spring break in the city

What are you doing for spring break? Many students are staying in town for the weeklong break in classes. How can people have fun without having access to their parents’ credit card?

Well of course the obvious answer to that is partying with friends. What if your friends can’t think of anything to do? How can you have a good time?

SGA discusses concerns for student issues

Work on the strategic plan that will guide the university’s direction into the year 2020 is under way. Once completed, Stephen Gottfredson, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, said the strategic plan will become the primary focus for the university community as well as for its students.

Fox mixes law and environmental studies

Until VCU’s Center of Environmental Studies hires a permanent assistant director, Clifford Fox will continue serving as its interim assistant director.

“The position that Dr. Fox is in is a very, very unique position,” said Greg Garman, director of the center.

Karl Linn Scholarship will honor former VCU student

A wave of the future hit VCU’s Stuart C. Siegel Center as high schools from six states gathered to compete in the South Atlantic regional FIRST Robotics competition.

Before the competition began, however, VCU President Eugene P. Trani told the students and guests about the Karl Linn Scholarship that honors Karl Linn, a soldier and VCU engineering student who was killed in Iraq in January.
