Baby talk
A two-month-old Chinese baby doesn’t cry when he wants his mother’s attention, he calls for her. When the baby is hungry he says “Mama, Mama.” The baby’s mother also said the baby can say the word “nai” which is Chinese for milk. Doctors at Beijing Children’s Hospital said it is very rare for a child to speak at such an early age.
Kitchen fall becomes real headache
When a Polish man went to the hospital complaining of a headache after a fall in his kitchen, doctors x-rayed his skull to ensure he had not cracked it. Instead, they found a five inch knife blade that was lodged in his head. The blade had entered the retired school teacher’s head just under his right ear and the handle snapped off. It was not touching any major blood vessels or nerves, therefore the blade did not cause any lasting damage.
The man tripped over a stool while working in his kitchen. He had several kitchen utensils spread out on the floor where he tripped. The man had seen the small gash under his ear but assumed the cut, along with the pain in his head, was from his fall. Even after finding only the kitchen knife handle the following day, the man never guessed what had happened. Doctors were able to successfully remove the blade from the man’s head.
Egg with tail found
A chef at a restaurant in China found an egg that has a tail. The chef was working at his restaurant when he first noticed the egg. The egg is of normal size but has a small tail that protrudes from one end. Experts are not sure why the egg has this extra appendage, but the chef has decided to try to hatch the egg to see what emerges.
Man has four kidneys
While undergoing a routine medical exam, a Chinese man discovered he has four functioning kidneys. The 53-year-old man now wants to donate two of his kidneys for free to help someone in need of a kidney transplant. The man’s family is not happy about his plans.
Couple goes 51 hours without sleep
A Nicaraguan couple has won a no-sleep contest at a local mall. The two went 51 hours without sleep as they competed with five other couples at the Managua Shopping Mall. The contest required the contestants to lie awake in bed in the middle of the shopping center. The winners took home a new car as their prize.
Divorce stinks
An Iranian woman has announced that she wants to divorce her husband because he has not bathed in over a year. In Iran, women must prove that their husbands are neglectful or abusive in order to divorce them. The woman told the court that the man will not even wash his face. She also told the court that when they first married he showered three times daily and compulsively washed his hands every few minutes. His family is not sure what prompted the man’s change in bathing habits, but his wife said that no one can stand being around him.
Dead battery?
In a small Brazilian town, a car that had no wheels and no battery for the last six months moved 15 inches overnight. The car used to belong to a funeral company and was in a local mechanic’s shop to be repaired. The mechanic said the car was on a flat surface and no one came close to it. The mechanic was also the only person with keys to the car. He said he thinks there may be some type of energy from the dead still trapped in the car. A physics teacher has been brought in to study the case.
