A Buddhist monk from Thailand recently had his sight partially restored after having accidentally glued his eyes shut with superglue. The monk mistook the tube of glue for eye drops and had to go to the hospital where workers had to use a chemical solvent to open his eyes. The monk said he squeezed a few drops from a tube onto the floor and saw that a clear liquid was coming out. He then assumed the tube contained eye drops, so he squeezed four drops into each eye. After a minute or so, he said his eyes felt cold and were completely sealed. He then applied paint thinner to try to release the glue’s hold but only succeeded in burning his eyes. The hospital said the monk should regain total sight in both eyes.

Cheeseburger bribery

A Florida man now faces charges after he tried to bribe a policeman with cheeseburgers. Steve Denton was involved in a fight in a local bar and tried to persuade the officer to let him go if he bought him McDonald’s cheeseburgers.

First toy Olympics takes place

Toys of all kinds competed March 6 in the world’s first Olympic Winter Games for toys. The first events took place in Berlin, Germany, and included the ski jump and relay races among other events.

American Idol Barbie

The makers of Barbie have created a group of American Idol dolls. The Barbies come dressed and ready to audition in front of judges complete with tiny working Karaoke machines and microphones. The dolls will cost around $15 and will debut in stores around the time when the final round of the show’s fourth series begins.

Price of tea skyrockets

An English jeweler has created the world’s most expensive teabag. The teabag is hand-crafted with 280 diamonds and took three months to create. It was made in honor of a British tea company’s 75th anniversary. The teabag will also be used as a part of a prize to raise money for a local children’s hospital in Manchester, England.

Dog marriage wards off evil

A group of children in Northern India married dogs in a tribal ceremony. Local residents arranged the marriage of dogs with local children in an attempt to ward off evil. Only parents with a child whose first tooth grows in their upper jaw can take part in dog marriages, which are supposed to promote peace in the community.
