Penguins can remain gay
A German zoo has decided not to break up homosexual penguin couples. The zoo, which had flown in four female penguins to entice the male penguins to mate, received a lot of flack from gay rights protestors. The zoo’s director said it was not her intention to forcefully separate the gay penguins and try to place them with the females. She also said the reason the male penguins showed no interest in the females may have been because the experiment was started too late in the year.
Peruvian village builds Inca ruins
An ancient Inca ruins tourist attraction in Chucuito, Peru, has turned out to be only 12 years old. Villagers built the ruins in an attempt to attract tourists and to convince authorities to invest money in tourism for their region. Their plan worked as the fake ruins attracted millions of tourists each year. The villagers said the ruins were a site where Inca women would go to cure infertility.
Woman fights for gentleman mugger
An Austrian mugger was jailed even though his elderly victims pleaded that he be let off because of his polite demeanor. One of the victims said she had not encountered such a well-mannered criminal in quite a while. As the mugger grabbed her bag, she fell to the ground. The mugger noticed her fall and returned to ensure she was okay. The woman said the mugger had a neat appearance and was very gentlemanly. Apologizing, he asked her not to report him and told her he was just desperate for money. The mugger then helped her find her keys, which had fallen when he grabbed the bag. Police arrested him after being called by a passer-by who witnessed the mugging. He was sent to jail for two and a half years because it was revealed that this was not his first offense.
