Scots allowed to marry in-laws

Due to a recent change in the law books in Scotland, a Scottish man can now marry his ex-mother-in-law. Scottish women are also allowed to marry their former fathers-in-law. Previously, there was a ban on marrying a blood relative as well as a ban on marrying those related by affinity. The law was based on the Old Testament law that if a man marries a woman and lies with her mother, all three should be burned alive. The Scots Law Commission, which changed the law, said it was unreasonable and made no sense.

Stick up granny

An Austrian grandmother named Elfriede faked a bank robbery for a laugh. The 80-year-old woman walked into a bank in Lower Austria and threatened the teller with a toy gun informing her that it was a stick up. After seeing the terrified look on the teller’s face, the woman started laughing. The teller quickly realized that the woman was joking, but called the police anyway. Although the elderly woman’s three year prison sentence has been suspended, a judge warned her she would be in a lot of trouble if she causes problems again.

Hey hoser!

A Dutchman who was tired of the noise from an Irish pub next door to him took revenge on them by flooding the place. Tom van den Belt reportedly nailed the doors shut, drilled a hole in the wall and fed a hose in through the hole, flooding the crowded bar. The pub was filled with people celebrating a local carnival. Although there was no real danger involved, pub owners were worried that the wet floors would cause people to slip and fall. Van den Belt, who did call the fire department after his actions, has now threatened to set off a stink bomb in the pub if the noise continues.

Mugger gets nailed

A young would-be mugger attempted to mug 88-year-old man named Gerhard Brinkmann, but he ran into a little difficulty. The grandfather happened to be a former German lightweight boxing champion in 1936. After the mugger made the request for the elderly man’s wallet, Brinkmann said that if he wanted it he would have to come closer. Brinkmann then landed a right hook to the mugger’s chin. Although the man did manage to knock the mugger out, the mugger came to before the police could respond to apprehend him. Brinkmann said that he may still be able to fight, but he is not able to run like he used to.

Prisoners demand sex and Pizza

Prisoners at a maximum-security prison are protesting because they have lost some of their privileges. The privileges included conjugal visits, takeout pizza, flat screen TV’s and mobile phones. Although these privileges may sound frivolous for maximum-security prisoners, prisoners now claim that they are being treated like dogs since they have lost these privileges. In protest, the prisoners came together and took out an ad in one of Mexico’s main newspapers pleading with Mexican president Vincente Fox complaining about their situation.

Gay penguin experiment

A German zoo has imported four Swedish female penguins in hopes that it will tempt its gay penguins to turn straight. Zookeepers ordered DNA testing on penguins that had mated for years without producing offspring and realized that six of the birds were living in homosexual partnerships. One couple had even adopted a stone that they protected as if it were an egg. Although the director of the zoo hopes to see baby penguins in the coming months, early experiments have shown great difficulty in separating the homosexual couples. In case the experiment does not work, the zoo has also flown in two male penguins so that the female penguins won’t miss out altogether

Guess he didn’t have E-ZPass

A Chinese truck driver was arrested for kidnapping two toll station operators to save the equivalent of 75 cents. The driver, from Taizhou city in the Zhejian province, was stopped at a toll station when he tried to drive off without paying. Police said he invited the toll operator into his cab – and then drove off. At the next toll station he used the same tactic, successfully luring another toll operator into his cab. Toll station staff raised the alarm and police took up pursuit, finally catching the man and arresting him about 10 miles down the road. The driver and his boss – who was also in the cab – are both in police custody and face charges.
