ARLINGTON – A minister accused of molesting a teenage boy was ordered held without bond Wednesday by a judge who called him a flight risk.
Antawn McCullum, 29, heard the ruling as friends and his mother and other relatives – some who had come in from Mississippi – looked on.
A now 17-year-old boy accused McCullum of sexually abusing him for several months in 2002, when McCullum was a youth minister at Macedonia Baptist Church in Arlington. The incidents allegedly took place in the minister’s apartment, as well as in the teenager’s Fairfax County home.
According to prosecutors, McCullum became friendly with the boy – who was 15 at the time – through a friendship with the teen’s mother.
They said the victim claimed McCullum threatened to strangle him if he told anyone what was allegedly happening.
